Barry Buffier, Deputy Director General, Department of State & Regional Development and Tourism, Industry & Investment NSW

Barry Buffier was appointed Deputy Director General, State & Regional
Development and Tourism in the NSW Department of Industry and Investment in July 2008 following a major reform of the NSW Public Sector into super-departments. He has responsibility for facilitating business investment;
increasing business competitiveness; advocating for business; marketing the strengths of Sydney and NSW; supporting research, industry and innovation; and advocating and developing tourism.

Barry was previously the Director General of the NSW Department of State and Regional Development, and the Director General of the NSW Department of Primary Industries.

He has an extensive track record in both the private and public sectors in industry development, primary industries, agribusiness and finance. Barry is a Churchill Fellow, a Commissioner with.the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He ix also a member of the NSW Manufacturing Council and is on the board of Tourism NSW, NSW Industry Capability Network, NSW State Contracts Control Board and the Small Business Development Corporation.

 

Graham Yerbury, Chief Financial Officer, Arrow Energy

Graham Yerbury joined Arrow Energy in July 2008 to manage the company's Investor Relations and Corporate Communications activities before being appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer in October 2008. Prior to this role, Graham spent 14 years working for ARCO and then BP in their coal, oil and gas businesses. Graham was the commercial manager of the Gordonstone Coal Mine near Emerald prior to moving the ARCO’s international oil and gas operation in Dallas, Texas. After the BP take over of ARCO in 2000 he moved to BP's London office where he headed the company's performance reporting team for the upstream. Graham is a chartered accountant with post graduate qualifications in resource strategy and economics.

Alistair Webb, Commercial Manager, Geodynamics Ltd

Alistair Webb is Geodynamics' Commercial Manager, responsible for overseeing the commercial development of all the company's hot fractured rock geothermal projects. A chartered accountant, Alistair also develops strategies for third-party involvement in the company and provides managerial direction and oversight of all media and investor relations activities.

Mr Webb was previously Energy Derivatives Manager at Eraring Energy, where he played a key role in developing and implementing a greenhouse gas / emission trading strategy for the company's renewable portfolio.

Greg Toll, Chief Executive Officer, Clean TeQ Holdings Ltd

Greg Toll was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Clean TeQ in 2007 and has been with the predecessor company since 2001. A shareholder in Clean TeQ, Greg is responsible for the operations of the business and oversees all operational and administration functions.

Prior to joining Clean TeQ, Greg held senior executive positions in R&D, sales and marketing with Uncle Bens’, Masterfoods, Nestle and Lion Nathan.

Greg has a Bachelor of Science (Veterinary) Degree with First Class Honours from Sydney University and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Marcus Derham, Chief Executive Officer, Willmott Forests Ltd

Mr Derham has been involved in the forestry industry since 1985 at both middle and senior management level and has been the Chief Executive Officer of Willmott Forests since 1991. He has dealt with all facets of practical forest management from site preparation through to utilisation, and has been involved in the management and administration of all of Willmott Forests' projects since 1989. Mr Derham is affiliated with a number of industry associations. He is currently a Board member of the Australian Plantations Products and Paper Industry Council known as A3P and is a Government appointee to the NSW Forests and Forest Products Ministerial Advisory Council. He holds a Certificate of Applied Management, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Brendan Dow, Managing Director, Ceramic Fuels Cells Ltd

Brendan Dow was appointed Chief Executive of Ceramic Fuel Cells Ltd (CFCL) in June 2005 and subsequently joined the board as managing director in January 2007. Mr. Dow is responsible for the development and execution of the company's strategic plan, accelerating the commercialisation of the company's technology, as well as daily business operations.

Prior to joining CFCL, Mr Dow spent almost 10 years as managing director of the Australian subsidiary of two German global electrical component manufacturers. He was responsible for operations across Australia and New Zealand, as well as establishing and managing greenfield manufacturing operations in Malaysia and sales and marketing activities across South East Asia.

From 1992 to 1996, Mr. Dow was a regional manager within a multi-national electric equipment company, and from 1989 to 1992 worked as production manager in London for a multinational in the fast moving consumer goods industry.

Mr Dow completed his undergraduate degree at Swinburne University Australia in Manufacturing Engineering (Honors) and completed an MBA at Mt Eliza Business School (University of Melbourne).

Dr Michael Ottaviano, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Carnegie Corporation

Dr Michael Ottaviano is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Australian listed wave energy developer Carnegie Corporation, and joined the Clean Energy Council board in 2009.

Michael has been the CEO of Carnegie since 2006 and in that role oversees all commercial and technical aspects of Carnegie's operations, engineering and design, intellectual property and finance and administration. During this time Carnegie has developed its CETO wave energy technology from proof of concept, through a pilot plant phase and into the initial commercial demonstration stages.

As CEO, Michael has raised over $25 million in equity, overseen an increase in market capitalisation from $8 million to over $100 million, and secured support for Carnegie's wave technology of $20 million from Australian, Canadian and French governments. Michael is also a member of the Australian Government's Energy White Paper advisory committee.

Michael's background is in research and development and technology commercialisation. Prior to Carnegie, he was a senior manager specializing in technology and innovation consulting at a global advisory firm and prior to that was a division manager at a Australian-based heavy manufacturing company active in R&D activities. Michael has a Bachelor of Engineering, a Master's of Science and a Doctorate in Business Administration.

Andrew Randall, Founder and Ambassador, Jackgreen Ltd

Andrew Randall is the founder and Managing Director of Jackgreen Ltd and was instrumental in listing the company on the Australian Stock Exchange. He has led the business since April 2004 during which time he formed the company's guiding strategy, Board of Directors and management team.

In less than three years Andrew grew a unique business that possesses a solid customer base of over 50,000, and is the only retailer that has a GreenPower accreditation on every product it sells.. Launched in NSW, Jackgreen has expanded to Victoria, Queensland, the ACT and South Australia.

Previously, Andrew was a Vice President of Citibank Australia Ltd between 1985 and 1990, where he established a number of operating units in the bank's structured finance division. He is the founding shareholder and Managing Director of Obelisk Capital Pty Ltd, a corporate advisory and investment company. Andrew has expertise in determining and implementing growth strategies for emerging businesses and this has been used for many corporate advisory engagements in the energy industry. He is an advocate of social change and sees great opportunity for individuals and businesses to make environmentally beneficial decisions.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University and is a qualified CPA and graduate of the Securities Institute of Australia. He sits on the board of a number of private and publicly listed companies.

Giles Bourne, Chief Executive Officer, BluGlass Ltd

Giles Bourne is the CEO of BluGlass Limited, an Australian Green Tech company commercialising semiconductor technology for the manufacture of high efficiency devices such as next generation lighting technology, light emitting diodes (LEDs) and high efficiency solar cells.

BluGlass' technology has potential not only in reducing the costs and increasing the performance of these green devices, but also has a more environmentally sensitive and efficient method of manufacture.

Giles is a specialist in developing offshore business opportunities for Australian corporations. He has more than 12 years experience working with multinationals and technology enterprises in Australia and overseas focusing on inward expansion investment, setting up domestic and international partnerships, joint ventures and licensing deals. Before working with BluGlass, Giles was involved in commercialising another Australian high tech invention at Securency, a joint venture with the Reserve Bank of Australia developing the polymer bank note now being used in 27 countries.

Jo Hume, Investment Analyst, CVC Sustainable Investments

Jo Hume is an Investment Analyst for CVC Managers Pty Ltd. She has 15 years experience in the energy and environmental sectors.

Jo joined CVC from AGL where she was a senior energy analyst (commercial). Prior to that she ran the NZ Business Council for Sustainable Development, managed sustainable energy commercialisation programs for the NSW Sustainable Energy Development Authority, was a market analyst for the NZ electricity market administrator, and worked in the oil and gas industry as a petroleum engineer.

She is a director of the Australia-NZ Climate Change and Business Centre and has a clear understanding of the conditions required to commercialise sustainable businesses. Relevant awards - Winston Churchill Fellowship, Premier’s award for environment and education, Queens Trust Forum participant. Jo has an ME, Dip PE, BE (Hons).

James Thier, Executive Director, Australian Ethical Investment Ltd

James Thier is an Executive Director of Australian Ethical Investment L:td and a director of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Australian Ethical Superannuation. He has helped the company grow from an idealistic concept 23 years ago to now managing more than $550 million on behalf of 18,000 managed funds and superannuation investors across Australia.

Peter McPhee, Head of Retail Distribution, BNP Paribas Investment Partners Australia

Peter McPhee joined BNP Paribas Investment Partners Australia in June 2007 and is responsible for all aspects of its retail business, covering dealer groups, platforms and research houses nationally.

Prior to this, Peter was Head of Distribution at Mercer Global Investment (2005-2007). Previously he worked at BT Funds Management (1989-2005) where he held a number of senior business development roles across the firm. Peter also worked in the BT Investment Bank where he was responsible for the Futures Department (1985-1989). He began his career at Elder Finance Futures Division. He has a B.Ec (Sydney University).

Damien Lynch, Managing Director, August Investments

Damien Lynch is Managing Director of August Investments Pty Ltd, a private investment company specialising in green investments. He has worked for over twenty years in the area of ethical investment and green investment.

He established August Investments in 1981, which in turn established Australian Ethical Investments Ltd in 1986, now Australia's largest public ethical investment funds manager. He was General Manager of that company for its first six years.

He is a director of the Australian Employee Ownership Association, a foundation fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was a foundation director of the Responsible Investment Association. He also managed EcoForest Ltd, a sustainable forestry venture, for seven years from 1996.
